618M SERIES CONSTRUCTION FEATURES

2HP Class V3 Low Vibration Spindle Motor provides ample power for both fine grinding and rough grinding.
High Precision Cartridge Type Spindle is supported by 4 pieces class 7 (P4) super precision angular contact ball bearings. The labyrinth type seal construction keeps contaminants out, prolonging spindle bearing life.
Downfeed accuracy and long life is achieved through cross-ribbed column casting. The elevating guideways for both wheelhead and column are Turcite-B laminated, hardened and ground.
Table is driven by a thick-gauge steel cable and traverses on hardened and ground guideways with steel ball bearings.
Machine base slideways are laminated with Turcite-B and then precisely hand-scraped for maximum flatness and rigidity.
The elevating microfeed device uses a worm and wormgear for vertical feeds in increments of 0.000050". Activated by turning the lever clockwise, the microfeed device also locks the handwheel to prevent any accidental handwheel movement.
The table handwheel can be repositioned to suit the needs of the operator.
Automatic lubrication system provides lube oil to column slideways, elevating leadscrew, double "V" slideways and crossfeed leadscrew.
